Age 91, passed away on May 19, 2014.
Born in Watertown, SD. Graduated from Rush City High School in 1940. Bernice married Hans Gelden in 1943 and resided in Minneapolis until 2010. She worked at Town and Country Club and Loretta's Tea Room. After Hans passing, she moved to Nokomis Square. Survived by daughters, Bonnie (Dennis) Kowalski and Diane (Brian) Barnes; grandchildren, Thomas Kowalski, Lori Hackbarth, and Scott Barnes; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Albert (Merlyn) Swanson of Redwood City, CA. Preceded in death by husband, Hans B. Gelden; 3 brothers, and 5 sisters. Visitation, Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 4-7PM at BRADSHAW (McDivitt-Hauge), 3131 Minnehaha Ave. S., Mpls. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 11AM at TRINITY LUTHERAN OF MINNEHAHA FALLS, 5212 41st Ave. S., Mpls with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Interment Fort Snelling national Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Camp Patmos Scholarships c/o Trinity Lutheran of Minnehaha Falls.
