Jessen, Bernice
On August 8, 2012
Peacefully
Preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Jessen (1993); great-grandson, Willy Schroeder (2004), and Sophie. Survived by her son, Don Butler and wife, Nancy; grand-daughter, Melanie (Randy) Schroeder; Melissa (Richard) Severance; and Monica Perme; great-grandchildren Andrea Schroeder; Grant, Anna, and Jack Perme; and Sophie Two. She was a long-time member of various Methodist churches, most recently (1976) First United Methodist Church of Stillwater. She had many volunteer jobs, and enjoyed her time especially at Wilder Forest, and Good Samaritan Society in Stillwater. From childhood well past her ninetieth year she played the piano. She, with her husband, enjoyed boating since they moved to Minnesota in 1946. She was intensely curious, and was drawn to reading, painting, and the arts. She will be remembered for a faultless sense of humor. Bernice could show you how to make a petunia hug your nose, introduce you to Santa Claus in a peanut, separate one rock from another by personality, and make you believe you'd find gold in a pile of sand. Bernice loved life in its dearest detail. Service Tuesday, 1:00 P.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard (NW corner of Hwy 36 & Co Rd 5), Stillwater. Visitation one hour prior. Burial at Fairview Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Wilder Foundation.
