Passed away October 5th at home. Born in Boston in 1936, Dan resided in Wollaston, MA until the family moved to Mahtomedi, MN in 1948. A 1954 graduate of Cretin High School, Dan received his electrical engineering degree from the University of Minnesota, and completed his law degree at William Mitchell College of Law in 1964. He became a registered patent attorney. His earlier legal work included Control Data, 3M, and Jeno's Inc. In 1971, Dan relocated to Santa Barbara, CA to become Secretary and General Counsel for Applied Magnetics Corp. followed by 10 years as senior partner of Morgenstern & Meaney, Beverly Hills, CA. In 1988, he became Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel for Circon Corp. followed by private practice in Santa Barbara from 1995, to present. Dan served on numerous committees and boards, including California Coastal Corp., which created many new jobs for Californians. In addition to his passion for model railroading, Dan's fondest achievement was his Eagle Scout Award from Mahtomedi troop 89. A resident, of North Oaks and Santa Barbara, Dan is survived by his mother, Marjorie; his wife of 9 years, Wendy Patterson; sister, Marjorie (John) Kugler; brothers, David (Marianne), Dana (Rita) and Dennis (Randy). He is also survived by 6 children; sons, Dan (Debbie), Shawn (Robin), Doug (Susan), daughters, Michelle (Glen) LeBlanc, Marcia (Tim) Little, and Bridget (Dave) Meyer. He is also survived by step daughter Shaila (Joe) Cunningham, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, October 10th, 11 AM at ST. MARY OF THE LAKE, 4741 Bald Eagle Ave. White Bear Lake, with visitation 1/2 hour prior to Mass. Reception following. Interment: Santa Barbara.
