David Franklin Finley, born in Wheeling, WV, and resident of Shoreview, Minnesota, passed away on Monday August 19, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Caroline Finley, and survived by his loving wife, Beverly (nee Brands) Finley, sister Earla (Luke) Mester, brothers Craig (Peggy) and Brian (Rebecca) Finley, 9 nieces and nephews and 9 great nieces and nephews.
David had a BS in Business and worked as a computer programmer for the Federal Reserve Bank where he retired in 2010. He'd played in the Bank's golf fun league although we should say that he played AT golf rather than playing golf.
He served in the Air Force for 10 years and became an active member in the Civil Air Patrol and currently has a rank of major. He was a true patriot.
He also achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a private pilot. He enjoyed playing bridge and was active as a Life Master and played 2-3 times a week and was pursuing re-instating his director's certification.
David was an avid Minnesota Wild Fan and a season ticket holder for many years. He was often shown on tv when he traveled on the Wild road trips because of all the pins on his sweater. He was even asked to participate in a Wild tv commercial. He talked to everyone at the arena and people would always call out "Hey, Big Dawg!" as he walked down the concourse.
He had a larger than life personality and liked talking with other people but his favorite thing was to stay home with his wife. David was extremely intelligent, creative, loyal, fun loving, protective of his loved ones, and a good neighbor. He had a quirky and literal sense of humor that was very funny . He was a people person who loved to talk to others but his favorite thing was to stay home with his beloved wife Beverly. He will be greatly missed.
