Doris Forsberg died peacefully on July 15, 2009 with her children holding her hands as she drew her last breath. Doris Vera Awsumb was born on July 2, 1920 to Ardin I. Awsumb & Petra Caroline Awsumb. Like her brothers, Ardin W, Kenneth & Roger, she graduated from St Paul Central HS. She was a life-long member of the First Christian Church (Disciples) of St Paul. In 1942 she married a wonderful guy, Wilford Forsberg. When Bill returned from the Army after WWII, they bought a home in Highland Park where they lived for 50+ years. During the time that Doris was growing up in the Great Depression her family often had the experience of hosting various aunts & cousins for several months (or a few years) at a time. As a result of this history, she & her siblings formed & maintained very strong familial bonds with her aunts, her cousins and their spouses & children -- ties that remained to the end of her life. Doris was pre-deceased by her parents, her brothers, Ardin W. & Roger, her dearly beloved husband, Bill, and by her youngest child, Mary. She is survived by her beloved brother & sister-in-law, Ken & Lois Awsumb (Bemidji), by her children, Roger & Carol, by 5 grandchildren, by 3 great-grandchildren, and by many nieces & nephews. Visitation will be at 11AM at BRADSHAW 678 Snelling Ave. S. on Wed., followed by a service at noon and a lunch buffet thereafter. Private interment will be at Acacia Park. Memorials preferred to the charity of your choice.
