George was born in St. Paul and passed away at Boutwell's Landing, Oak Park Heights, Minnesota on Saturday, Feb19, 2011 Preceded in death by his parents, George and Eunice Bauman and his wife, Virginia and is survived by nephew, Charles (Leslie) Meyer and grandnephew, Garrison; niece, Christine (Kevin) Schneider and grandnephew, Andrew. He graduated from Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis and Macalester College in St. Paul. George served in the Air Force and he and Virginia were at bases in Amarillo and Big Spring, Texas. They owned and operated a green plant rental business in Dallas, Texas called "Leaf to Dallas" while living in Irving, Texas. Upon retirement they moved to South Padre Island, Texas. There they owned and operated a bookstore and were active in local government and the Republican Party. George volunteered as an ombudsman at various nursing homes in Harlingen, Texas. In 2000, they moved to Boutwell's Landing to be closer to his aging mother in Minneapolis. A memorial service will be held at Boutwell's Landing (south of Hwy 36 and the city of Stillwater, behind Wal Mart) at 2:00PM Saturday, March 5, in the auditorium on the lower level near the north entrance. Memorials preferred to North Presbyterian Church.
