Tower, Helen M.
Age 95, passed away peacefully on August 3, surrounded by her family. Preceded in death by loving husband of 52 years, Clifford; sisters, Lucille, Char; and brother, Ralph; parents, John and Margaret Yost; daughter-in-law, Sue Tower; son-in-law, Bob Devaney; granddaughter, Grace Rypkema; and infant great-grandson, Josiah. Survived by 6 children, Donna (Howie) Bloom, Pat Devaney (Don Durheim), Joyce (Jim) Rypkema, Clifford (Carol) Tower, Robert (Jeanette) Tower, John (Diane) Tower; sister, Lorraine Arntson; 44 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and countless friends and extended family.
She will be remembered for her love for family and friends, her zest for life, her generous hospitality, being a faithful Twins fan and an avid doll collector. She worked at Irving and Andersen Elementary Schools for many years influencing the lives of children and was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the community.
Helen lived in Minneapolis her entire life spending summers in Crosslake on Velvet Lake or fishing in Canada. Her children and grandchildren were the focus of her life, keeping her busy with all their activities and events. She lived a long, wonderful life and was always ready for an adventure. She will be missed by all.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pat and her family for the caregiving they provided the last years of her life. Visitation Sunday, August 12, from 4-8 PM at BRADSHAW (McDivitt-Hauge), 3131 Minnehaha Ave. S., Mpls. and also 1 hour prior to Mass at church. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Monday, August 13, at INCARNATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 3817 Pleasant Ave. S., Mpls, with interment to follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to MS Society, Incarnation Catholic Church, or Mt. Olivet Day Program.
