Joel was the youngest of five children (brothers Jack, Jim, Jerry, and sister Janet) born to John and Elizabeth (Beste) Lucker. Joel was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack, and sister Janet. Joel graduated from Harding High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Crisis 1959-1963. He began his education as an Electrician in the Navy and completed it at Dunwoody Institute. Joel worked for Commonwealth as an Electrical Superintendent. Joel enjoyed the North Country where he had a cabin. He loved hunting with his brothers, nephews, and friends. Every summer for twenty years, Joel enjoyed time in Montana helping his cousin with the wheat harvest. Joel met Marlys Jacobs "Up North" and he taught her to love snowmobiling, three-wheeling, and the quiet of the North Country. Joel and Marlys were married on his Montana land in the Bear Paw Mountains in 2004. They began retired life together and it was so good. Joel came into a large family of seven married children. In the short nine years of their marriage, he became known as Grandpa to 48 grandkids and 13 great-grandkids. Joel gave of himself and shared his cabin and Montana land with this family that he loved. In return, they loved him and helped care for him in his struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Joel was a fun, caring, gentle, and giving man. He will be missed by his wife and family, his brothers, nieces and nephews, and friends. Service Wednesday 11AM at VALLEY BAPTIST CHURCH, 860 St. Croix Trail South, Lakeland. Officiating the service will be Pastor Steve Fahs and Father Jerome Keiser. Interment Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 6-8PM at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd., Stillwater (NW corner of Hwy 36 and Co Rd 5) and one hour prior to the service at the church.
