Monahan, John "Jack" Weber

Our dear father Jack Monahan passed away on April 24, 2019 in Plano, Texas. Jack was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 23, 1931, the oldest of five children of George Lennox Monahan and Clara Marie (Weber) Monahan.

Jack attended St. Thomas Military Academy in St. Paul, Minnesota and received his college degree in economics from the University of Minnesota, although he often said he majored in hockey and playing bridge. Jack loved sports and in particular hockey. He played varsity hockey in high school and college and also as an amateur for the minor league Minneapolis Millers. Jack served in the U.S. Air Force as a fighter pilot, logging many hours in the F-102, F-106 and other aircraft. He was stationed at bases in Spokane, Korea, Okinawa, Duluth and other places.

Jack married the lovely Leona (Lee) Naoma Polk in 1955. They had two daughters, Teresa Lynn and Sharon Lee. Jack joined American Airlines as a pilot in 1966 and moved his family to Dallas, Texas. Jack lost his beautiful wife Lee to cancer in October of 1968. Jack later married the wonderful and amazing Pamela Ann (Donohue) Monahan (a/k/a the "Mother of All Fun") in June of 1971. They had one son, John Weber Monahan Jr. Shortly after, Jack transferred to Buffalo, New York and had many happy years working and playing with his fellow AA colleagues in Buffalo who nicknamed themselves the "108s." Jack moved the family back to Texas when the Buffalo base shut down in the early 80s but the 108s continued their merry ways and still do! Sadly, Jack lost his beautiful wife Pam to cancer in December of 2008. In addition to hockey, Jack loved snow skiing, sailing, softball, golf, bridge, Texas Rangers baseball, a good gin martini, and most of all his family and many good friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his father and mother, his brothers George Jr. and Terrance, and his wives Lee and Pam. Jack is survived by daughter Teresa Muzzey and her husband Bob, daughter Sharon Fountain and her husband Ben, and son John Monahan Jr. and his fiancAC. Rachel Bieniecki; grandchildren John Fountain, Lee Caitlin Fountain, and Christopher Muzzey; brother Dennis Monahan and his wife Carol, sister Patricia McClellan and her husband Mike; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.
