Shinn
John Irick III
Avid Fisherman and
Family Man
John Shinn, of Stillwater, left us way too early at the age of 66. John passed peacefully on August 25 with his, as he called her, angel on earth, wife of 42 years, Linnea Shinn, by his side. John was preceded in death by parents Grace and Robert Shinn, sister Libby Maffre and his brother Scott Shinn.
He is survived by his wife, Linnea; daughter Rachel (Tito) Reyna, grandson Frankie; his brother, Pete (Isolde) Shinn; sisters Ruth Sugeno and Vikki McGrath, and many more family and friends.

If you knew John, you knew where to find him, and it was usually outside. Hunting, fishing, and cracking jokes with his friends and family were favorites. You also might have seen him at the Stillwater Farm Store (formerly Harvest States) helping load feed, or just amiably chatting with customers. Another passion of John's was traveling to Alaska to fish salmon with his nephew, Bruce. John was especially proud of his grandson Frankie, hoped one day to teach him all his fishing secrets. John gave great advice, was helpful to all, had a knack for being incredibly insightful, and in times of struggle he offered help anyway that he could. He also loved music, collecting antiques from his special garage sale finds, and making custom fishing rods. He will be deeply missed by us all.
