June Oas

June Marcella Oas (Melander), Age 93, born on May 27, 1917 lifelong resident of Minneapolis, passed away on March 25, 2011 surrounded by her family.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Albert and Lelah Melander; husband, O.Maurice Oas; brothers Everett Melander and Douglas Melander; Special Friends, John Chresand and Florence Anderson; Son-in-Law and Dear Friend, E. Bradley Harder.

She is survived by her brother, Earl (Gail) Melander; Daughters, Sharon (John) Coburn, Carole Walsh and Maureen Harder; Grandchildren, Laura Walsh, David (Rosey) Coburn, Cheri (Chauncey) Keepers, Stephen Coburn and Angie Harder; Great Grandchildren, Alec Coburn, Simon Keepers, Owen Keepers & Finnigan Keepers.

June delighted in the celebration of holidays and birthdays. Hosting, cooking and gifting with endless generosity and grace. She also was gifted herself as an artist; painting, sewing and knitting wonderful gifts for family and friends.

She loved her German Shepherd, Susie, walking miles a day into her late 80's, and was an avid reader when she took time to sit down. She was blessed with a gentle spirit and would describe herself as quiet and shy, but had the tenacity and strength to build a business from the ground up. Oas Home Beverage and later, Oas Superette became a fixture in South Minneapolis. With the help of her husband and children, the business was successfully run for 40 years, until closing in 1987.

Funeral Service Friday, 11:00 A.M. at BRADSHAW (McDivitt - Hauge), 3131 Minnehaha Ave So. with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment will follow services at Lakewood Cemetery.
