Katherine Nicolay

Katherine Jane Nicolay was born November 25, 1925 in Cresco, Iowa. She graduated from Minneapolis Central High School in June 1943 and attended Macalester College for 2 years and the University of Minnesota for over one year.

She worked as a secretary in the Dean's Office at the University of Minnesota and typed for over 500 graduate students earning their Maters's and PhD degrees. She worked over 18 years at Seward Redesign and Seward Neighborhood Group before resigning and retiring at 80 years and moving to Augustana Senior Housing. She volunteered at North Central University in the Dean's Office and the Registrar's Office.

Her love of office work led her to volunteer at Judson Memorial Baptist Church where she was baptized on March 28, 1937 and grew up to become a "free-thinking" Baptist. She volunteered at Asbury Methodist Church when they lived two blocks away and where she was confirmed on October 2, 1971 and joined the church. Katherine died on May 8, 2017.
