d. January 16, 2015

Maxine J. Mattison came into this world July 16, 1921 at 12:40 a.m., and she departed peacefully January 16, 2015 at 12:40 a.m. Maxine is survived by her daughter Twylla; son Nels; son-in-law Doug; 4 lovely granddaughters; her youngest sister, Elizabeth Cunningham; and many nieces and nephews.

Maxine grew up near Grove City, MN. She graduated from High School and went on to nurses training at Eitel Hospital in Mpls. After graduating she enlisted in the Army Nurse Corp. She served in Europe during WW II. There were many long days working in surgery to save the lives of injured soldiers.

After the war she married her high school sweetheart, Stanley G. Erickson. Their first home was near Glen Lake, MN. Maxine continued her nursing career until their daughter, Twylla, was born. In 1969 Stanley's employer moved the family to Morgan Hill, CA. That same company closed their plant in California in 1972 and this resulted in a move to Montevideo, MN. Maxine went full circle returning to Minneapolis a few years after Stanley's death.

Maxine was active in all her communities, and her nursing background was put to good use. She was the Camp Nurse many summers at Cathedral of the Pines. She was a volunteer with the Hospice and the Red Cross while living in Montevideo. She was also active in all her churches.

Internment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Wednesday, January 21 at 12 noon. Memorial Service will be at Mount Olivet Church, 5025 Knox Ave. S. in Minneapolis on Monday February 2. Contact Bradshaw Funeral Home at 612-724-3621 for service time.
