Age 59, of Mpls. Passed away surrounded by his much loved family and friends on March 29, 2009 following a heroic four month battle with lung cancer. Preceded in death by parents, Emmett and Olivia (Samson); grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and best friend, Leo. Mike will be forever missed by his loving wife of 32 years, Patty; their devoted son, Joseph; brother, Emmett "Pat" (Marilyn); sisters, Bonnie (Chuck) Peterson and Carol (Skip) Mogren; other family and friends. Mike lived a full life bursting with love and laughter. A long time employee of Federal Express, Mike loved softball, golfing, vacationing on Lake Vermillion, and he never passed up a good theme party. He was always ready with a joke for his co-workers and he continually strove to find the positive in every situation. Even faced with cancer, he lived his last months with incredible dignity and unfailing grace. A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held on Saturday, 11 AM, with Visitation from 9:30 until celebration time at MINNEHAHA COMMUNION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4101 37th Avenue South, Minneapolis. Special thanks to the Health Partners Riverside Oncology Department, Regions Hospital, Hospice of the Lakes, and the staff of the N.C. Little Hospice. In lieu of flowers memorials welcomed to the family.
