Mike fought his cancer with courage and dignity but on October 13, after 6 years, Mike lost his battle. Survived by wife of 50 years, Betty; daughter Kelly (Ken), son Kyle (Jill) and grandchildren, Kelsey, Ryan, Sydney, Tony and Elena; sister, Dee Stratton (Jim); and brother Jack. Preceded in death by father James, mother Mary Galka, stepfather John Galka and sister Kathleen Peterson. Mike's career was in the Gift Industry. He was a positive influence on many and always exhibited a strong work ethic. Mike loved his work and cared deeply about his coworkers, making lifelong friends and good memories. The Marine Corp was ever present in Mike's life. He taught his family how to love and honor our country. "Once a Marine-always a Marine." A special thinks to Dr. Mann and his caring staff, Allina Hospice, and Dr. Glasow and staff for their guidance and care. Service will be held 11am, Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Incarnation Lutheran Church, 4880 Hodgson Rd, Shoreview, 55126; with visitation 1 hour prior, 10-11am. Family interment at Fort Snelling National. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred but mostly, Mike would want you to spend time with your loved ones.
