"Myrt"

Age 88

Passed away peacefully on May 19, 2011. Myrtle Isabel Allen grew up in Duluth and graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1941. After high school, she worked as a secretary at Clyde Iron Works where she met her future husband, Mark Maki. They moved to the Highland Park neighborhood of St. Paul and raised three children. After years as a homemaker, Myrt went back to work as a Unit Manager at St. Joseph's Hospital and later worked in clerical positions at the State of Minnesota and at the Veterans Administration. She retired in 1986 and spent her free time with her grandson, her friends and taking casino trips. Myrt was a kind person. She believed "If you don't have anything nice to say about someone, then don't say anything at all." She was quick with a wisecrack and had a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark; son, Bobby; and parents, George and Sadie Allen. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Scribner; son, Tom; son-in-law, Brett; and grandson, Drew. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Good Samaritan Home in Inver Grove Heights for their loving care and compassion. Funeral service Tuesday, 11:00 A.M. at BRADSHAW, 678 Snelling Ave So., St. Paul with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Private family interment will be held at Acacia Park Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Good Samaritan Home or Randolph Heights Presbyterian Church.
