Honda, Osamu "Sam"
Age 83, of White Bear Lake
Passed away November 24, 2010 after a 6 month fight with cancer. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Sue Bungo. Survived by wife of 58 years, Lily; daughters, Patti (Gary) Nakai, and Nancy Honda; son, Mark (Andrea) ; 6 grandchildren, Ben, Nick, Alix, Maddy, Theo, Dani; brothers, Ben (Yoshi) and Harry (Charlene). In the course of his full and successful life, Sam was as an army veteran, 36-year 3M employee, and an avid golfer. Well known in the Japanese American community as a leader who fought many years for civil rights and redress of the WWII internment of Japanese Americans. He volunteered countless hours of service to support his local community, seniors, and cultural programs. Memorial Service Friday, December 3, 1:00 P.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 4600 Greenhaven Drive at Highway 96 (one mile west of 35E), White Bear. Visitation two hours prior. Reception immediately following the service at the Center. Memorials will be given to the Nikkei Project and the Twin Cities JACL's Scholarship Fund by the family. Sam is now playing championship golf in the most beautiful course imaginable.
