Born October 6, 1918 to Richard and Anna Best, Rika was a life-long resident of the Rice Street area, where she attended Washington High School, graduating in 1936. Rika was employed at the State Capitol Cafeteria, and later in the Administration Building Cafeteria. She was an avid reader, enjoyed telling jokes, and was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church. Preceded in death by husband, Steve; and daughter, Lynne. Survived by son, Steve "Dick;" daughter, Nancy Elliott; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, & friends. Funeral service Friday, August 3, 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior at SAINT TIMOTHY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1465 Victoria Street North, Saint Paul. Internment Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
