Passed away peacefully on April 10th, 2007, surrounded by his family from complications of Alzheimer?s disease and a stroke.
Roy was born at home at Sprucehill in Afton, MN to Margit and Adolf Torelle, both of whom emigrated from Norway. His mother Margit, father Adolf and sister Ethel preceded him in death.
Roy graduated from Stillwater High School at age 16, even though he only spoke Norwegian when he entered school. He enjoyed a successful career running his own electronics business and upon retirement worked at Press On in Stillwater. Roy was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps, serving in England and France during WW II.
Besides a deep commitment to his family, Roy was a life member of Odd Fellows Lodge, a bowler and an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Helen; his children; Vicki Hartman of Grant, Janet (Jesse) Russell of Cary, North Carolina, Dennis Torelle of Afton, and Douglas (Lorraine) Torelle of Stillwater; grandchildren; Brett Hartman, Trevor Hartman, Brandon Torelle, and Heather (Ray) Laudenbach; step-grandson; Jeffery Jones; great-grandchildren; Maria and Gianna, cousin; Billy Wicks, Waynesville, NC, and many nieces and nephews.
Roy was a man of great integrity and warmth, who lived God?s message of love and generosity all his life. His good humor and gentle spirit will be greatly missed.
There will be a service Monday April 16th at 11:00AM, at the Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd., Stillwater. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Stillwater.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at St. Joseph?s and Bethesda Hospitals in St. Paul for their kindness, patience and care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.
