Age 91 of New Hope, formerly of Sand Lake Township, Itasca County, and south Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2010 with family present. Sylvia was a wonderful homemaker. She will be remembered for many things, including her passion for family and friends, and her sincere desire to always think of others first, forever putting other people's needs, interests, or wishes before her own. She was humble, sweet, sincere, and most kind. She will be deeply missed. While living in Itasca County, Sylvia was actively involved with her husband, Clifford in the Itasca County Committee on Aging, the Sand Lake Alliance Church, the Sand Lake Property Owners Association, as a polling judge for Sand Lake Township, the Squaw Lake Co-op, the Squaw Lake Over 50 Club, the Evergreen Club (Squaw Lake Senior Citizens), and the Sand Lake Township Community Center. Sylvia had many interests including photography, music, geography, hiking, collectables, including her famous postcard collection, writing, yard work, baking, having coffee with friends and neighbors, a great love of the outdoors and all its wild creatures, and numerous other interests. She was preceded in death by Clifford, her husband of 65 years. She is survived by her children, Charlotte (Don) Wicklund, Sydney (Barbara), Lee (Janet Peterson) and John (Barb); 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret "Lil" Rosenbaum and by other relatives and friends. Sylvia's family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the Minnesota Masonic Homes North Ridge Care Center and the caring, kind, and compassionate staff of the Bridgeway Southwest Unit. Service Thursday, February 25, 10:00 A.M. at BRADSHAW (McDiviit-Hauge), 3131 Minnehaha Avenue South. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Alzheimer or dementia care, support and research, such as the Alzheimer's Association or similar (www.alz.org).
