Catherine Falenzer

Catherine “Kay” Falenzer, age 98 of Oak Park Heights, died May 8, 2021 at The Gables of Boutwells Landing.

Kay is survived by loving daughter and best friend, Anne (David) Mickelson of Stillwater, special cousin Lynne Allen of Boston MA, and special fur friends Molly, Lizzy, and Loki.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, dear cousins and friends, and many beloved pets.

Kay was born March 17, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA. Her work career began in Philadelphia, with additional moves to Los Angeles, CA and then to St. Paul, where she retired as a 3M Benefits Manager. Kay’s strength was a force. She was a woman of principle, and a pioneer for women in the business world. Her endearing spunk, wry sense of humor, and independent spirit were with her through her final days. Those who truly knew her knew that she had a kind and tender heart. She tried to be kind and helpful to everyone. Kay was a proud Philadelphian, avid Bridge player, passionate animal lover, nature lover, music lover, and devoted patron of the arts, including the Guthrie Theater, Minnesota Orchestra, and others. Kay believed in community service. She served on the Woodbury Planning Commission, as election judge in Maplewood and Oak Park Heights, as Elder at House of Hope Presbyterian Church, was a board member of the St. Croix Animal Shelter (now Animal Humane Society in Woodbury), served on numerous townhome association boards, and was an active volunteer at Boutwells Landing. Among all of her roles and titles, there was none more important to her than being a loving, caring mother to Anne. She was the best mother a daughter could ever ask for, and she will be missed beyond measure.
