Dennis John Hayden

Passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, in Stillwater, Minnesota. He was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on April 20, 1939 to his parents, Walter Hayden and Nora Falconer Hayden.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1962. In 1965 he entered grad school at Syracuse University, NY and earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Social work was his passion, along with his organ music. He was hired in Minneapolis Public Schools in 1970 as a social worker, until his retirement in 1999. In 1986, he met his future husband, David Prunty. They were legally married in 2008.

Dennis is survived by his husband of 36 years, David; his son, Keith Gray; sisters, Deborah Dorfsman and Shelley Jauss; and many beloved cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Don; and sister, Kim.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the White Bear Unitarian Universalist Church,  328 Maple St., Mahtomedi, MN 55115, reception at 10:30 AM, service at 11 AM, followed by a light luncheon.
