Jean Kearns

Jean Kearns, age 96,  crossed the finish line at her Woodbury,  MN home on April 8,  2020.   She is survived by her brother Frank and children Patricia, Nancy,  Thomas and John,  as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

A story best reveals who Jean was:

At 35,  Jean's husband Jack passed away from complications of a severe asthma attack.  Because one of her four young children also suffered from asthma,  Jean packed up the kids in the family wagon and headed west,  moving from New Jersey to Tucson, Ariz.  This went against the advice of many,  who were convinced that all would perish at the hands of desperados and/or renegades.

Instead, Jean made a wonderful life for the family there,  along the way obtaining a master's degree in education and retiring years later after teaching many fourth graders not only the three Rs,  but by example, the meaning of being a good person.

Jean was feisty, loving, kind, generous, and strong-willed, often on the same subject and not in any particular order.

When her upper lip started to quiver,  you knew it was time to admit defeat.

None who knew her will forget her.   She will always be in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, just be nice to each other.  Jean would like that.
