Joann Larson

JoAnn Lucille (Bjork) Larson, age 88 of Stillwater, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernal Johnson; parents, Lawrence and Lucille Bjork and brother, Lawrence Bjork, Jr.  She is survived by her daughter, Shanon (Erik) Bjornard, and son, Kevin (Stephanie) Johnson; grandchildren, Anders and Beck Johnson; siblings Gerald (Susan) Bjork, Shirley Eggleston; many nieces, nephews and friends.

JoAnn was born and raised in the Almelund area and graduated from Taylors Falls High School.  Post high school she moved to St. Paul and did secretarial work for Brown and Bigelow.  Later she worked for Be Architects in Lake Elmo and UFE in Stillwater.  After retirement in 1997 she went to work for the Stillwater school district Adventure Club program where she loved working with the children.  In 1957 she met the love of her life at a dance and shortly thereafter married.  They built a beautiful home together on the North Hill in Stillwater.  Widowed at age 36, she raised their two children in the Stillwater house that Vernal built. She lived there for 59 years.  A hardworking perfectionist, her pride and joy was taking care of her home.  Family was very important to JoAnn and her grandsons a shining light in her life.  She found joy in serving the Lord and being active in her church.  We will miss her vibrant energy, warm smile and beautiful blue eyes that lit up the room.  We find comfort in knowing she is now with her beloved.

Memorial service will be 11am Friday, September 30th at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 609 S. 5th Street, Stillwater, with visitation one hour prior.  Memorial celebration will be followed by lunch at the church and interment at Fairview Cemetery, Stillwater.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of the Midwest.
