Kathleen Ament

Kathy Ament, Age 71, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on April 16, 2022, while with her daughter supporting University of Minnesota Gopher Men’s Golf Team at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa.  Kathy was born in the state of Virginia and grew up in Afton/Lakeland, MN, daughter of John and Alyce Young.  She started her career in finance, married the love of her life Ted Ament and together had their daughter Amy.  Kathy went on to a long, successful career with Marion Steel Company and Nucor Steel Company in Marion, Ohio.  She enjoyed her retirement traveling and checking golf courses across the country off her bucket list and even getting a hole in one!  Kathy is survived by her daughter, Amy Ament, stepchildren, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a brother.  Kathy, always a silent, strong leader and supportive friend, accumulated a lifetime of meaningful relationships and will be sorely missed. Preceded in death by her husband, Ted; both parents and her older brother.  We will celebrate her life on her 72nd birthday Friday, May 27, 2022, at Indian Hills Golf Club in Stillwater, MN from 4 –6 p.m.  The event is casual as Kathy would prefer, so please wear golf attire or Gopher gear.  Memorials preferred to Ronald McDonald House Charities Upper Midwest or University of Minnesota Gopher Men’s Golf.
