Larry D. Wayne, 82, of Oak Park Heights, Minnesota, died Friday, September 18, 2020 at The Estates at Greeley in Stillwater, MN,  after a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his two sons, Larry Wayne, and Donald Wayne;  4 grandchildren, Chad, Alyssa, Sean and Phil; 4 great grandchildren, Cayden, Laynee, Rosie and Jimmy; Joyce’s children, Laura, Michelle, Chuck, Cheryl and Diane; 7 grandchildren, Shawna, Justin, Elizabeth, Andrew, Erik, Amanda and Charlie, and one great granddaughter, Makenzie.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Connie, and a brother Ron Wayne.

He was born on January 12, 1938 in Albuquerque, NM, the son of Joseph C. Wayne and Letha (Jones) Wayne. Larry joined the Navy in March of 1956 and served aboard the USS Moctobi (ATF-105), and participated in nuclear testing out at sea during Operation Hardtack in 1958. He was honorably discharged in March of 1962.  He later went to work as an electrician for Cupertino Electric in California, retiring after 35 years.

Larry married Joyce (Carlson) in May of 1989.  They lived between California and Minnesota for many years, and settled in Oak Park Heights, Minnesota, near Joyce’s hometown of St. Paul. He was a model railroad enthusiast.  He had a great talent for wood working and made beautiful furniture.   Fishing was a favorite pastime of his, and he was especially fond of fishing in the mountains.  He loved to travel, and enjoyed taking road trips.  Going out to dinner and dancing was something Larry appreciated.  He just really loved to have fun.  Larry was an extremely kind and caring man, loved by all who knew him.  He will be dearly missed.
