Melva Schmidt

Melva Jeanne Schmidt passed away peacefully on July 14, 2021. She was 93 years old. She was born May 18, 1928 to Arthur and Verna Knoll near Winona Minnesota. She grew up in Homer Minnesota attending Homer School, Phelps, then graduating from Winona Senior High in 1946. She was introduced to Ervin Schmidt by her brother. Their relationship blossomed through their love of nature and the outdoors. They married June 2, 1951. They lived in Rochester where they raised their two children. For the rest of their lives, they rarely left one another's side. She is survived by her two children Nancy (Tom) Austin and Gary (Nancy) Schmidt, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A celebration of life for both Melva and Erv will be held Saturday, August 21 in Chester Woods (Eyota) at Pavilion #7 at 11:00.
