Miles H. Wittig was born November 23, 1927 on the family farm near Somerset, Wisconsin. His parents were Herman and Alma (Running) Wittig. He had a brother, Kenneth, and a sister, Margaret Sicard. He was baptized and then confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church located in rural Somerset near their farm. On March 11, 1951 he married Audrey M. Hansen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osceola. They continued to live on the family farm, where they were blessed with and raised three children.

Miles served his country in the army during the Korean conflict. He worked on the farm for a number of years, and then also for a time at Swift Meats. For 37 years he was employed by Andersen Windows in Bayport, MN. In his retirement he sold seed corn for Jaques Seeds. He also liked to use his free time to serve others on various boards and committees. He served on the St. Croix Electric Co-op board; the board of Camp Croix located near Danbury, WI; was a member of Somerset American Legion post 111; and the Town of Somerset planning commission. He and Audrey were members of Salem Lutheran Church in Stillwater where he also served the congregation in various positions.

On May 10, 2020 Miles passed away in Hudson, WI at Cedar Cove Memory Care following a lengthy illness. Recently he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Chopper (Duane) Geske. He is survived by Audrey, his wife of 69 years; children: David (Mandy) of River Falls, Susan Geske of Stillwater, Brad (Pam) of Somerset; grandchildren: Nicole (Matt) Freeman, Alex (Rachel) Wittig, Ken (Katie) Wittig, Neal (Allie) Geske, Eric Wittig, Ashley (David) Gilleland, Anna (Matt) Lange; and by great-grandchildren: Asher Wittig-Chavey, Elias Wittig-Chavey, Ellie Gilleland, Miles Geske, and Leo Freeman. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.

Private family visitation is Sunday, May 17 at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Stillwater, MN. Pastor Jon Brohn of Salem Lutheran Church of Stillwater, officiating. Private burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in East Farmington, WI. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family are preferred.
