Roger Roettger, Sr.

Roger Lyle Roettger, Sr., of Stillwater, Minnesota passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 80 on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by parents Carl and Hazel (Balfanz) Roettger and brother, Duane Roettger.  He was survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary K. Roettger, son, Roger (Kathleen) Roettger, Jr., daughter, Annette (Doug) Edge, son, Marty (Judy) Roettger and daughter, Nicole (Dave) Mathes.  He had six grandchildren and one great grandchild that he adored; Brittany, Justin, Roger III, Joseph, Karoline, Alyssa and great granddaughter, Lili who will deeply miss their grandpa.

After graduating from Stillwater High School, he joined the United States Navy.  His naval service allowed him to further his education and experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering.  He was assigned to the Ship Company USS Ammen DD-527 and the USS Helena CA-75 where he served four years as a boilerman.  In February of 1963 he married Mary K. (Anez) of Stillwater, Minnesota and went on to have four beautiful children.  3M hired Roger in 1964 as a Mechanical Engineer where he traveled throughout the United States overseeing large commercial boiler installations until his retirement in 1997. He enjoyed 33 years with 3M as a Mechanical Engineer.

In his retirement, Roger enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and touring the U.S.  He also enjoyed golfing when he wasn't busy tending to his garden and flowers. He will be greatly missed by those whose lives he had touched.

Celebration of Life at 11:00AM on Friday, May 20, 2022 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Stillwater, MN with visitation beginning at 10:00AM, and luncheon following the service.
