Aloysius E. Pufahl, 78, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on February 22, 2011. Al was preceded in death by wife, Marlyn of 49 years and brother, Thomas Hammond. Survived by loving sons, Scott (Linda Skille), Todd (Laurie) and John (Lori Backer); grandchildren, Kelly (Michael) Clover, Chris, Katie and Nick; great-grandchildren, Ella and Brendon Clover; beloved niece, Kathy (Robert) Nelson; and many other relatives and friends. Al was a 1950 graduate of South High where he was active in many sports and was crowned Homecoming King. He served his country as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1958 and joined the Minneapolis Police Department where he served for 42 years and became affectionately known as "Captain Al, the Patrolman's Pal." Al enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his lake home in Annandale, MN. Funeral service Saturday, February 26, 12 Noon at BRADSHAW (McDivitt-Hauge), 3131 Minnehaha Ave. S., Mpls. Visitation Friday, 4 - 8 PM at BRADSHAW and also 1 hour prior to service. The family is grateful for the care and comfort given by the staff of Minnesota Oncology and Fairview Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
