Nahurski, Evelyn K. (Cieslak) of North Oaks, age 90, died March 28, 2011. Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister. Born in Chicago, Illinois to Felix and Josephine Kostanski on July 14, 1920. Predeceased by her parents, husbands Dr. Edwin S. Cieslak and attorney Francis J. Nahurski, brothers Henry and Edmund Kostanski. Survived by sons Jon C. Cieslak (Ann) and Paul H. Nahurski (Shannon Kelley) of St. Paul; 9 grandchildren: Jennifer and Marian Cieslak of St. Paul, Madeline Cieslak of Minneapolis, Jon F. Cieslak (Valerie Torres) of San Diego CA, Kathryn Ganfield (Jacob) of St. Cloud, Joan Nahurski of San Francisco CA, Lauren Nahurski of Minneapolis, Henry and Francis Nahurski of St. Paul; great-grandchild, Josephine Ganfield; and sister Cecelia M. Kostanski of St. Paul.



Evelyn grew up in Chicago, graduated from Holy Family Academy, and attended Mundelein College. She married Edwin Cieslak in 1943; they moved to the Twin Cities when he became Associate Professor of Biological Sciences in the General College of the University of Minnesota.



From 1960-67 Evelyn was a reporter for the St. Louis Park Dispatch.



She married Francis Nahurski in 1967; they moved to North Oaks where she resided ever since. Evelyn volunteered for the LawyersA�?? Wives of Ramsey County, the League of Women Voters, the Advisory Committee to the Rice Creek Watershed District Board, and the North Oaks Garden Club.



An active member of the Polanie Club of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Evelyn contributed to their books Treasured Polish Recipes for Americans, Treasured Polish Christmas Customs and Traditions, and Treasured Polish Songs with English Translations. She was particularly proud of her translation of the Polish lullaby LulajA...A�e, Jezuniu (Lullaby, Sweet Jesus). A�??BabciaA�?? passed on her love for her Polish heritage to her family.



Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, 10:00 AM, at SAINT JOHN'S CHURCH OF LITTLE CANADA, 380 Little Canada Road East . Visitation Thursday, 5-7 p.m. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 4600 Greenhaven Dr @ hwy 96 (one mile east of Hwy 35E), as well as one hour prior Mass at church. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights. Memorials in lieu of flowers preferred to League of Women Voters.
