Age 92, of Mahtomedi died peacefully December 31. Survived by loving children Rob (Fredi-Ellen), Rick (Ina) and Ruth; grandchildren Carissa (Scott), Eric, Daniel, Thomas; great-grandchild Alexander. Born in Twin Valley, MN, Iola graduated from Concordia College with degrees in business and music education. She taught in both Mahnomen and White Bear Lake. She was the church organist at Christ the King Lutheran Church for 22 years. Iola taught piano lessons for more than 50 years and was active in MN Music Teachers Assn, entering her students in piano and theory contest, with students often receiving top scores. Iola touched the lives of hundreds of students and instilled in them the joy of music. She continued playing piano up until her death, including playing for the memory care residents at St. Andrew's Village, where she lived. Memorial service will be held Feb. 3, 11 AM, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1660 Birch Lake Ave, White Bear Lake 55110. Memorials to Christ the King Church, Minnesota Public Radio, American Cancer Society.
