James Francis Kappenman Sr of Minneapolis, MN died on December 29, 2007 after a long period of failing health. Born in Ethan, SD he spent his childhood in West Springfield, MA before moving to Minneapolis, MN almost fifty years ago. He was a communicant at Holy Name Church, Minneapolis. A friend of Bill W for 29 years, he received numerous awards for the work he did.

He leaves four daughters in Minneapolis, Elizabeth Moore, Angela Kappenman, Joan Kappenman, Cynthia Weyas, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces; two brothers, Patrick of Andover, CT and Thomas of Feeding Hills, MA three sisters Lois Vetro of Enfield, Judith Kappenman of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chicopee, Sharon Baldarelli of Agawam, MA. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Kathleen Kappenman, brother Terrance Kappenman, a son James Jr of Minneapolis and his former wife Leona Bedeau of Cass Lake, MN.

He retired from Dayton's Warehouse in Minneapolis 11 years ago after years of service. He loved to hunt and traveled to South Dakota yearly to shoot pheasant. He taught his grandchildren to trap shoot. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed 25 years as a season ticket holder for the MN Vikings. Mass of Christian Burial 12 Noon Saturday, January 5, 2008 at CHURCH OF THE HOLY NAME, 3637 11th Avenue South, Minneapolis. Visitation one hour prior to service at church and Fri 4 to 8 PM at BRADSHAW (McDivitt-Hauge), 3131 Minnehaha Ave. South. Interment St Mary Catholic Cemetery with luncheon at Indian Ministries, 3045 Park Ave. South, Minneapolis.
