Passed away peacefully on June 21, 2013. Born November 15, 1913 in Hilo, Hawaii at the time Hawaii was a U.S. Territory, Margaret's Scottish parents were James Muir Jamie, overseer at a sugar plantation on the "Big Island", and Elizabeth Hutchinson, his wife. Margaret grew up on the island of Hawaii. She graduated with a BA and Teaching Certificate from the University of Oregon, Eugene. In 1935 she married the late Ronald M. Hubbs, and moved to St. Paul in 1947. Margaret's religious life as a Christian was very important to her. She was an active member of St. Clement's Episcopal Church and Messiah Episcopal Church and more recently an active participant in Iris Park Commons religious activities. Throughout her life Margaret exhibited a strong concern for the welfare of others serving on numerous boards and committees throughout St. Paul. She had a quick inquisitive mind and a love of reading. With her husband, Margaret established the Ronald M. Hubbs & Margaret S. Hubbs Children's Literature Collection for teachers in training at the University of St. Thomas. She also participated actively with the graduates and staff of the Ronald M. Hubbs Center for Lifelong Learning in St. Paul, especially through the awarding of scholarships for further study. She was preceded in death by her husband and life companion, Ronald. She is survived by her son, George (Ann); grandchildren, Jamie (Sarah), Robin (John) Comery, and Jennifer; 2 great-grandchildren, Raven and Ireland Comery; other relatives and many cherished friends. A service of thanksgiving for Margaret's life will be Saturday, August 10th at 11AM at MESSIAH EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 1631 Ford Parkway, St. Paul. Family will receive friends following the service. Private interment Acacia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the following: Ronald M.
