Marjorie "Marge" Robertson McLaren Johnson
Marge was born on September 11, 1920 in Minneapolis, MN. She was the middle child of Mungo Reid McLaren and Williamina Niven McLaren, both from Dundee, Scotland. She graduated in 1938 from Roosevelt High School in South Minneapolis. She met her husband, Roy H. Johnson in high school and they were married on February 6, 1942.
Roy and Marge lived in South Minneapolis after marriage, where they welcomed their first child, daughter Candy on April 12, 1948. In the fall of 1948 they moved to New Orleans for Roy's work. They then moved on to Savannah, GA and Augusta, GA, where they welcomed their second child, Doug, on May 24, 1951. While in Georgia, they built a successful Arthur Murray Dance Studio Business with three locations.
They were brought back to Minnesota in 1959, where they spent 28 years in Mendota Heights raising their family and welcoming their 5 grandchildren. In 1987 they made the permanent move to Lehigh Acres, FL, and made the tough decision to sell the family cabin that Roy and his family built on Roosevelt Lake in Outing, MN. In 1991, Marge lost the love of her life to cancer, and in 1996 her son joined Roy in heaven. In 2001, she moved back to Minnesota to spend her final years with her daughter, grand kids and 10 great grandkids. On May 13, 2013 Marge passed away peacefully in her sleep after having a wonderful Mother's Day with many of her family present.
Marge will always be remembered for her constant outpouring of love to all she met, family, friends and complete strangers. She had a love for life, tennis, golf, family, photographs, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, card games and bingo, reading and sewing.
She is survived by her daughter Candy, Candy's children: Kelly (Chris), Jeff (Marit) and Keri (Joe); great grandchildren: Ryan, Jordan, Megan, Molly, Carter, Tyler, Grace, Anna, Natalie and Andrew; daughter-in- law Nancy, Nancy's children: Peter and David (Katie); and her older sister Ella, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
