Matt Knutson, 104 (Short 5 days to his 105th birthday!)
Matt Knutson of Mpls., passed away on January 13, 2007 at Auburn Manor in Chaska. Memorial service will be held Friday, January 19, 2007 at 11 AM at Mindekirken Church in Mpls.with visitation one hour prior. Interment is at Sunset Memorial.
Matt was born in Haugesund, Norway on January 18, 1902. The farmstead where he was raised in Norway is now Museum Farm at Orpetveit. He came to America through Ellis Island with two older brothers in 1921. He changed his name from Mathias Orpetveit to Matt Knutson. His father?s name in Norway was Knute. Matt was an avid hunter & fisherman for much of his life. In his later years enjoyed sharing life stores that were filled with wisdom & humor. He loved tinkering around in the garage on special projects and visiting with the neighbors. He lived independently his last 40 years at his home in Minneapolis. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ida (Grothe). Matt is survived by his loving family, daughter, Marian (Berget) and son-in-law Walter Paulson. Grandchildren & spouses, Beverly Paulson of Venice, Fla., Annette (Paulson) & Rich Ricke of Burnsville, Yvonne (Paulson) Meuwissen of Waconia, Leland & Debbie Paulson of St. Bonifacius, Allen & Rhonda Paulson of Casper, Wy., 14 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews & friends.
