Maurice Jenson

Jenson, Maurice T. "Maury" Age 86, of Stillwater Passed away peacefully at his home on February 24. Born In 1922 to Reverend and Mrs. C.T. Jenson in North Dakota, Maury spent his younger years in central Minnesota. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1940 and served as a lieutenant in the US Navy in World War II. Maury graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa in 1948. He was a member of the football team and active in college life during his years at Luther, where he earned the nickname "Bulldog" from his friends. In 1948, Maury married Jeane Arneson and settled in South St. Paul. They later moved to Arlington, Minnesota, where they owned a Ben Franklin store for seven years. Returning to South St. Paul in 1960, Maury completed a master's degree in business education at the University of Minnesota. He pursued a career in education and accepted a position as school business administrator for the Stillwater School District in 1967, serving in that capacity until his retirement in 1986. Maury was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stillwater for 42 years. Maury was also an avid Norwegian who delighted in discovering new Norwegian relatives. He was a founding member of the local Syttende Mai Society, a member of the Nordsmenn Federation, and active in other Norwegian heritage clubs and activities. He and Jeane visited Norway six times. He was a longtime member of Stillwater Country Club and the local Rotary Club, as well as other community organizations. Maury is remembered for his positive outlook on life and his kindness to others. He loved spending time with his family and following sports teams of all types. He is survived by his wife, Jeane; and children, Jerilyn (Stephen) Smith, Jeff (Mary) Jenson, and Juliann (John Martin) Jenson; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by three brothers, Dr. Jim Jenson, Dr. C.E. "Hap" Jenson, and Dr. Paul Jenson; and by his sister, Lois Jenson. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 28 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1616 West Olive Street, Stillwater. Interment Fairview Cemetery. Visitation Friday, 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard (NW corner of Hwy 36 & Co Rd 5), Stillwater and also one hour prior to the service at church.
