nee Stalland August 21, 2009 Age 94, of Roseville. Preceded in death by beloved husband of 56 years John J. Hoisser, brother Knute, sisters Doris Ylvisaker, Hedwig Klinefelter, Ruth Staley Una was born and raised in St. Paul and graduated from Central High School. She enrolled in the 5-year nursing degree program at the Univ. of Minnesota and graduated in 1936 with an RN and a BS in Nursing Educ. While at the U, she met her husband John, a pharmacy student. After graduation she was a faculty member at the U of M School of Nursing headquartered at the old Mpls General Hospital, and during WW II, she taught Red Cross Nurses' Aides and a refresher course for retired nurses to help ease the acute nursing shortage. After raising six children she returned to school to earn her certificate in aging and began teaching geriatric nursing at Ebenezer and Wilder care facilities. When finished with teaching, she traveled, volunteered, was active in PEO, and especially loved being with her grandchildren. She was an active member of Pilgrim and Immanuel Lutheran churches. An avid bridge and Scrabble player, she passed on her love of these and other games to her children and grandchildren. To the end she was also so proud of their educational, occupational and sports achievements. She loved the time with her husband at their cabin and hosting the annual family gatherings there or at home over Christmas for the Stalland clan. Una is survived by children Patricia (Howard) Cohen, Jean (Thomas) Fabel, John, Mark (January), Mary, Paul; Grandchildren Jessica Fabel, Erika (Tom) Derr, Anne (Jereb) Cheatham, Alex (Erin) Cohen, Leah (Jeff) Young, Molly Hoisser, Matt Hoisser, Theodore Fabel; Great-grandchildren Maddox and Lila Derr, John "Jack" Cheatham. A mid-September memorial service is planned with notice at a later date. Memorials in lieu of flowers to DARTS, 1645 Marthaler Ln. WSP, or Immanuel Lutheran Church, 104 So. Snelling Ave. St. Paul.
