George Gonzales Costilla, Jr., age 66 of St. Paul, died unexpectedly at home on November 12, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Oksana Costilla; children, Anita (Edward Huerta) Costilla, Tabitha (Mark Knaus) Costilla and their mother, Judy Sagstetter, Robert Costilla, Cecilia (Will) Doherty and their mother, Valerie Andrade; stepchildren, Dima and Katya; grandchildren, Sophia Reyes, Sabrina (Jose) Moreno, Judy Reyes, AJ Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Alex Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Madelyn Knaus, Isabella Costilla, Amelia Costilla, Milo Doherty; great-grandchildren, Theseus Villela, Alan Moreno, Elliot Moreno, Alison Moreno; siblings, Patrick, Linda, Anna, David, Denise, Lupe, Tony Costilla; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Paula; brother, Hector Gonzales Costilla; brother-in-law, Frank Maravilla; son, George Costilla III.
George was known for his quick wit and dry humor. He was a smart man who valued tradition and his Mexican heritage. He was a public servant, both in his service in the Marine Corps, and in his work assisting minority businesses.
A private, invitation-only family funeral service will be held 11AM on Tuesday, November 17 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. For those unable to attend, there will be a walk-through visitation 6-9PM Monday, November 16 at BRADSHAW, 1078 Rice Street, St. Paul; additionally, a live webcast of the funeral service can be viewed here on our website on Tuesday. Interment will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
