Albert Scheele passed away peacefully at the amazing age of 100! He was born into a very large family during the Great Depression and is one of nine siblings. When Albert became of age, he served in the U.S.Navy during World War II and was stationed on the West Coast. He was very fortunate to not see any action due to the war ending.
After returning back home to Ipswich is where he met his beautiful wife Marie Klein. He always liked sharing the story of how he met her at an auction sale because it was Lawrence Welk's brother who was hosting the sale. From that day on, it was true love! After getting married, the two of them moved to Minneapolis in 1958 and from there they started their beautiful family of five children.
Albert was always a hard-working man and that may have had something to do with him living to be a100! He worked for R&O Elevator for almost 30 years until he retired in 1987. Then, instead of just relaxing and enjoying his retirement years, he kept himself busy. He volunteered at a homeless shelter doing handyman work and also cut grass for the elderly. Some weeks, he would cut as many as 10 lawns! His payment for lawn care was usually in the form of sweets & coffee and a small minimal fee.. He also loved attending to his own garden that had so many beautiful flowers and tomato plants.
The one thing that so many of us will miss is his ability to come up with some really great one-liners. Even in his final days when he was just about ready to get his wings, his son Terry asked him if he was comfortable laying there in bed and asked him if there was anything he could do for him? Well..... he still had that sense of humor. His response was "get me a shovel". He will be so missed!!
Albert is survived by his children Terry Scheele and his wife Kristi, Marcia Moen, Tim Scheele, Debbie Scheele, 9 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Marie, daughter Sandy and grandson Jeremiah. Also preceded in death, his second wife Sonia.
