Age 84, of Stillwater, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 22, 2026.
Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dennis; parents, John and Adelaide Keenan; brothers-in-law, David Rossini and Edward Achterling; and sister-in-law, Sue Keenan. She will be sadly missed by children, Alice Schield, Daniel, Doug, Catherine (Tim) Michel, Greg, and Mike (Heather); grandchildren, Sam (Amber) Schield, Stephanie (Mike) Greeder, Jesse Domek, Lindsay (Ajay) Upal, Jack (Avery) Michel, Abigail Michel, Max Michel, Sean (Sophia) Michel; Dean Coleman and Hayley Coleman; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, David Keenan; sisters, Kathleen Rossini and Maureen (Ron) Siercks; brother-in-law, Bruce (Kim) Achterling; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Alice Ann Coleman (Keenan) was born on March 30th 1942 to John and Adelaid Keenan. She was named after her Aunt Alice but her family lovingly referred to her as "Sis."
When Alice was 16 years old, she met the love of her life, Dennis, on a blind date. It was love at first sight! On May 17, 1961, at 18 years old, although her family did not want her to get married, they eloped in Northwood, Iowa and began their 57-year marriage. Once the first child, Alice Ann was born, all was forgiven and Alice's family was thrilled to welcome their first grandchild.
Dennis was in the Air Force when they first got married and they lived in Biloxi, Mississippi. Alice was not a fan of the south, especially the cockroaches! They eventually moved back to the St. Paul area where they lived close to family members. Every Sunday was family dinner night. In 1976 they decided city life wasn't for them anymore and moved to Stillwater, MN. The Sunday night dinners turned into Birthday Month get togethers that everyone looked forward to.
Alice had 6 children and took pride in raising them. You could always count on a clean home and a home cooked dinner, even if she occasionally referred to the smoke detector as the dinner bell!
You could always count on Alice to keep her Catholic faith at the center of her life. She would spend at least 90 minutes a day saying her prayers and she never missed Sunday mass. All her children have memories of vacations at the lake when she made sure all attended the Saturday evening mass, or else!!
During the late 80's and early 90's Alice and Dennis ran a video store. First in Cambridge, MN and then in Shoreview and Roseville MN. They enjoyed their yearly trips to Las Vegas for the video store owner's convention. She saw many celebrities and brought back many autographs for her children.
Once Dennis retired, they spent the winter months in Arizona. It was a special time for her to be alone with Dennis after so many years caring for children.
Alice also took pride in being a wonderful grandma. She loved to spoil her grandkids, and each of them have amazing memories spending time at Grandma and Papa's house. Christmas time was extra special since even Santa Clause had a hard time keeping up with Grandma!
Everyone who knew her will miss her but know she is happy in heaven reunited with her beloved husband.
