Alice Elliott

Alice Elliott died peacefully on the morning of July 29, 2025. She was preceded in death by her son Kevin, and daughter Susan. She is survived by her husband Duane, son Brian (wife Nancy), son David, and sister Shirley Dougherty (husband Doug). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Alice Lorraine Markwardt was born on December 24, 1928 in Frazee, MN where she spent her childhood. The Markwardt Family moved to Grand Rapids, MN in 1942 upon her father taking employment in the iron mining industry during the wartime boom. After graduation, Alice was employed by The First National Bank of Grand Rapids, forever causing her to balance her checkbook to the penny. She also served as church secretary at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Grand Rapids. Alice and Duane were married on May 14, 1950 and resided in Chisholm, MN where Duane was City Engineer. Alice's profession transitioned to full time mom with the birth of children Susan and Kevin. In 1955, Duane's career took the family to the Twin Cities where they resided in Roseville, MN and added two more children to the family, Brian and David. Many weekends were spent at the family retreat on Pokegama Lake in Grand Rapids. In retirement, Alice and Duane relocated to Stillwater, MN in 1989, also spending winters in Haines City, FL, now having the time for golf and travel. They eventually took residence at Boutwell's Landing in Oak Park Heights, MN where they transitioned through their senior years. Alice's funeral service will be held at Boutwell's Landing on Thursday, August 7 at 10:00AM, and she will be interred at Itasca Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
