Allan John Hall, 88, of Stillwater, MN, passed away on July 22, 2026. He was born February 23, 1938, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Homer and Mildred (Bowers) Hall.

Allan grew up in Duluth, where he developed an early love of flying model airplanes, winning first place in the junior division of the city's model airplane contest at age 13. He was a 1956 graduate of Duluth Central High School, playing tenor saxophone in the band and skiing competitively. He also served as a cadet in the Minnesota Civil Air Patrol. 

Following high school, Allan began a six-year commitment in the U.S. Naval Reserve, including two years of active duty as a signalman aboard the USS Allen M. Sumner (DD-692). His service took him across the Atlantic, with memorable stops in Ireland, France, Spain, and Italy, where he visited family and took in the sights of postwar Europe. After his active duty, he returned to Duluth and attended the University of Minnesota Duluth, studying business administration. 

On New Year's Eve of 1959, Allan met June Odberg at a friend's home in Morgan Park. The two continued their courtship while attending UMD together and were married on August 3, 1962, at Peace United Church of Christ in Duluth. 

Allan built a long and successful career in sales, beginning as a store manager at Dugar Music Co. in Duluth before joining Northwestern Bell in 1964 as a communications representative. Over the following decades, he rose through account executive roles with Northwestern Bell and later AT&T in the Twin Cities, earning numerous honors.

Allan's faith in God was important to him and he shared that through his love for his family and others. He had a love for woodworking, acquiring a spectacular collection of tools over his life. He took numerous trips to the Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness with friends and family, instilling in his children a love of the outdoors. He was a member of the Stillwater Lions Club, Duluth Toastmasters, and church choir. He was involved in Scouting, both in his youth and later serving as Cubmaster. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed golfing.

Allan and June have three children: daughter Karin Rush (husband Bill), Naples, FL, son Steve (wife Susan, née Stratte), Davidson, NC, son Ken (wife Ann-Elizabeth), St. Paul, MN. They have six grandchildren, Maclaren (Steve Johnson), Madeline (Will Childress), Braden, Julian, Kate, and Silas, and one great-grandson, Oskar. Allan is also survived by one sister Helen (husband Jim Hardy), Potomac Falls, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents Homer and Mildred.

A funeral service will be held at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, MN on August 3 at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. Private burial with military honors will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
