Ann Marie (Soler) Rinehart of Maplewood passed away and into the arms of Jesus with her loving family by her side on June 3rd , 2023.
Born March 11th , 1932 in St. Paul, Ann was the 3rd of ten children born to John Martin (Marty) and Lucy Soler. Raised on a farm near Rice and Wheelock in St Paul, she attended school at St Bernard’s Grade School and Washington High school, which was a distance away. She claimed “they all walked uphill…. both ways”. She worked picking and selling raspberries, plucking farm chickens for supper, and working at the Custard stand. She got a job at Regina’s Candy Store as a teenager and the owners, Charlie and Pat Elliot, remained lifelong friends.
Legend has it that Ann met Warren Rinehart at the Minnesota State Fair, maybe even rode “Ye Old Mill’, and fell in love. They were wed in 1953 after her ‘GI’ returned from the Korean War. Together they raised five children in a small house on 1075 Virginia Street in St Paul. She became a ‘HOME MAKER’ for Mary, Jim, Bill, Jane, and Joan. As a couple they saw to it that Love, Laughter and Faith always filled our home.
Ann was the epitome of a grandma to her 7 grandkids – Nathan, Rachel, Rebecca, Molly, Grace, Bethany, and Katie – who will never forget the Valley Fair trips, weekends in Duluth, Schwan’s ice-cream cones (“It’s healthy – It’s Dairy”), candy jars, sleepovers, cheesy jokes (“How do You Feel? With my Hands”), and most of all, her unfailing love. She was also a proud great grandma to 10.5 great grandkids – Alayna, Lydia, Tyler, TJ, Faith, Hope, Layla, Aria, Wesley, and Nixon - spoiling them with an endless supply of cookies, chips, candy, love and hugs.
As a faithful servant to the Lord and her family, Annie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, incredible hospitality, unmatched humor and never-ending love to anyone who needed her. You always left her table with a full stomach, full heart, and a baggie of treats to-go (“If it’s Free – Take two!”).
Ann was called to Heaven to be with her savior, Jesus Christ. Her husband Warren, arrived there in 1994. She was also welcomed by her parents, Martin & Lucy Soler; siblings George, Lucille, Kathleen, Leo, Don, John, and Joe; and many other family members and friends. She will be deeply missed by her children Mary, Jim (Pam), Bill (Steph), Jane (Paul Mangan), and Joan (David) Phillips; grandchildren Nathan (Beth), Rachel (Patrick) Hermes, Rebecca (Brent) Nelson, Molly, Grace, Bethany (Evan) Covert, and Katie; 10.5 great-grandchildren; sisters Agnes (Terry) Farrell and Mary (Dave) Olson; sisters-in-law Penny, Marian, Kathy, and Joellyn; and many nieces, nephews, godchildren, family, and friends.
