Aphiphone “Pone” Vongsouvan passed away October 27, 2021. Pone was born in Toulouse France in 1972 to Bounhom and Bounvien Vongsouvan. He moved to the United States in 1984 growing up in Minneapolis and graduating from Roosevelt High School. For 29 years Pone worked for the Minneapolis Public Schools and helped shape the lives of countless children. Outside of work he taught classes for kids in cooking, chess, tennis, and chaperoned yearly trips to Eagle Bluff.
Pone is survived by his parents Bounhom and Bounvien Vongsouvan, Brother Nunu (Theresa) Vongsouvan, nieces Adeline and Eloise, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Pone was a kind, gentle, and compassionate person, who helped everyone throughout his life. He gave his time to his friends, family, and community. Pone enjoyed playing tennis, cooking, reading, playing guitar, fishing, spending time outdoors, and could not pass up a good poker game with friends. Most importantly, he enjoyed sharing all of this with his family and friends. He had a great love for everyone in his life, and his spirit will be carried in our hearts always.
