Age 49, passed away unexpectedly on May 5, 2026.
Ben grew up in Forest Lake and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman who loved spending time in nature with his family. He also had a creative spirit, acting in plays throughout high school and college and later shooting short films with the friends he made in theater. He was also known for his ability to fix just about anything; there wasn't a DIY project he couldn't tackle.
Ben had nearly 30 years of experience working in IT and over 15 years of employment with the Minnesota Department of Revenue. He leaves behind friends and colleagues who lovingly referred to him as "The Ben."
Known for his quick wit and his love of teasing those closest to him, Ben brought laughter and light to those who knew him. He had a natural warmth that put people at ease, and the generosity and empathy he showed others was a defining part of his character.
He is survived by his two sons, Ian (18) and Calvin (16), who were the pride of his life. He also leaves behind his younger sisters, Heather and Carol (Aaron); his former spouse, Rachel; and his parents, Steve and Jeanette. Ben will be deeply missed by his many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who cherished his humor, generosity, and kind spirit.
Ben's memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely.
