In Loving Memory of Mr. Berhane Fesshiai Asgede
We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Mr. Berhane Fesshiai Asgede, who passed away at the age of 63.
Berhane was born in 1962 in Asmara, Eritrea, to his father Shambel Fesshiai Asgede and mother Mulu Mebrahtu Woldu. He attended Asmara Habesha School in Deki Amhare for his primary education (grades 1–8), and later completed high school at Deki Amhare Secondary School.
In 1978, Berhane answered the call to serve his country during a time of war. After years of service, he left Eritrea for Sudan in 1982 and eventually moved to the United States in 1992. He then married the love of his life, Mrs. Luula Tesfay in 2001 and together they raised a beautiful family. He is survived by his loving wife and five children: Dina, Tesfu, Senay, Saimon, and Alex.
Berhane was a pillar of strength, faith, and kindness to all who knew him. He was affectionately known for his bright smile, his generous heart, and his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Whether as a husband, father, brother, friend, or co-worker, Berhane had a rare gift for making others feel seen, heard, and loved. He brought light into every room he entered—his name itself, Berhane, meaning “light,” was a reflection of his true spirit.
A deeply respected man in his community, Berhane was known for his reliability, humility, and his willingness to always say “yes” to help others. He was a great listener, always made time for people, and treated everyone—from elders to children—with equal kindness and respect. He often reminded those around him, “It’s OK. It’s going to get better.”
Though his absence leaves a deep ache in the hearts of his family and all who knew him, Berhane's legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to shine brightly. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed.
