Bernice Law

Bernice Law was born on September 29, 1935 to George and Edna Brookshaw in St. Paul, MN. She attended Catholic schools while growing up including graduating from St Catherine's University in St Paul with a degree in Occupational Therapy. One of her proudest memories was helping a very special patient rehabilitate. She met and then married Paul Law on September 19, 1958. The couple welcomed Mark on July 16, 1959, Scott on October 1, 1965 and Susie on February 4, 1969. They settled down in Woodbury, MN where she stayed at home and focused on raising the kids, volunteering and enjoying her artistic talents. Many of her family and friends have forever reminders of her through her art. As a writer, she contributed a regular column in the Woodbury News. Mostly humorous stories about her life, and the lives of her children (constant source of public embarrassment to her children). After Paul's retirement from 3M, they built their dream house and moved away from the harsh winters to Fairfield Glade TN. The house had beautiful views of the Smokey Mountains. There they enjoyed their retirement, making new friends, and golfing. They also continued to explore the world together with trips to Europe, the South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, Africa and sailing through the Caribbean. While in Fairfield Glade, Bernice volunteered at the local battered women's shelter on a regular basis helping women leave very bad situations. It was heartbreaking for her at times but work she thought necessary and enjoyed being involved in the local community. After Paul passed away March 11, 2007, Bernice moved back to Minnesota to be closer to family and friends. She settled in Oak Park Heights, MN at Boutwells Landing. She was blessed to be able to find this community. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She also applied her artistic talents to creating scrapbooks for the family which we all cherish. Bernice is survived by Mark & Alison, Scott & Tammie, Susie & Jim and her grandchildren (Chris, Heather, Jack, Ben and Abby). Preceded in death by her husband, Paul and parents, George and Edna.
