Brent Scott Jurkovski, a 50-year-old resident of Stillwater, Minnesota, passed away on January 23rd, 2026, in a tragic and unforeseen snowmobile accident while on a family trip to Wisconsin. Brent was a dedicated and influential individual throughout his life, who served as a guiding force within his family.
He embodied the family's core values, which included:
"Work Hard, Play Harder."
"Drive Fast, Take Chances."
"Suck it Up, Buttercup."
His wit and humor extended beyond these mantras, encompassing a lifetime of memorable sayings.
Brent possessed a remarkable aptitude for various mechanical endeavors, whether it be boats, trucks, sleds, or planes. He possessed a deep understanding of their operation and often demonstrated a knack for enhancing their performance. His unwavering commitment to hard work and hard play inspired many. Brent's generosity extended to sharing his extensive collection of toys, knowledge, interests, time, and life experiences with others.
Capturing the essence of a truly remarkable individual like Brent presents a challenge. His unique combination of brilliance, steadfastness, resilience, versatility, humor, pride, and protection made him an exceptional figure. He was a tech visionary, an unwavering companion, a comprehensive human encyclopedia, and the unifying force that held his family together.
Brent Jurkovski was born in Edina, Minnesota, on December 31st, 1975, showing an early appreciation for the value of a good tax deduction. His early years were spent between Minnesota and South Dakota before he settled in Hopkins during middle school and then Eden Prairie during his high school education. After graduating from Eden Prairie High School and serving in the United States Army, Brent embarked on his career in information technology, initially working at the help desk at Carlson Companies in Plymouth, Minnesota. His exceptional abilities and dedication propelled him to rapid advancement within his field.
Brent began his own family in 1999 when he assumed the role of partner to Angela and father to her son, William. Their family continued to expand with the addition of Madison in 2000 and Caden in 2005. They were wed on February 14th, 2005, and raised their family together in Albertville. Brent's career also experienced growth, as he made moves to IBM and subsequently Fair Isaac. In 2008, Brent joined Avanade and transitioned to Accenture as a Senior Manager - Infrastructure Architect in 2012. He continued to advance his career at Accenture until his passing, with his final role being Principal Director - Digital Technology Architecture. Brent held immense pride in his work and was a highly esteemed and respected member of the leadership team.
During the final five years of his life, Brent fulfilled numerous aspirations while also enduring profound loss. In 2020, he and Angela purchased a residence in Stillwater, which provided them with proximity to the river and some of their favorite recreational activities. However, in 2022, they were devastated by untimely loss of their son, William. Over the past few years, they have devoted themselves to healing, rebuilding, and cherishing the blessings of their family and becoming grandparents.
Brent's legacy will forever be etched in our hearts. We find solace in the fact that he departed this world on a day dedicated to his passions. Our hearts and lives are deeply affected as we grapple with the profound absence of its center.
Brent was preceded in death by his son, William Bradford (2022); and his father, David Miller (2021). Brent is survived by his wife and lifelong partner, Angela; his daughter, Madison (Sean) Barndt; his son, Caden Jurkovski; and his grandchildren, Emery and Hailey Barndt. He is also survived by his mother, Rhonda Miller; and his sister, Jennifer Eckman. Brent leaves behind many shared pets, including ScooBee the cat, Joey, Lily I, Lily II, Bella, Cocoa the chinchilla, and an undisclosed and potentially excessive number of chickens. The fact that some of these animals survived him may be prove to be a source of frustration for Brent. Especially the chickens. Godspeed.
