Bruce Anton Holcomb of Stillwater, MN died unexpectedly at the age of 76 on October 5, 2023, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Vernon, and perfect dog Torrey. Bruce and Lynn were together for 45 years. He is also survived by brother Scott (Toni) and Scott's sons Matt and Tony; Lynn's brother Peter (Julia) and children Iso (Dorothy), Ellie and Nathaniel; and his great niece/nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends.
Bruce was born on September 28,1947, to Anita and Paul Holcomb in Minneapolis. After graduating from Washburn High School in 1965 he went off to college to major in premed, dropped out and joined the Marine Corps in 1966, survived and returned to Minneapolis, went to a local university and tried a couple of different majors, started working at 3M in 1972, and graduated from Augsburg University in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. Bruce retired from 3M after a challenging, fulfilling, and successful 30-year career.
It should not be surprising, after trying half a dozen college majors at three schools, that Bruce was interested in many different pursuits. He built his own woodstrip canoe and he and Lynn took many inspiring canoe camping trips to the Boundary Waters Wilderness. He loved classical music and sang in the Bach Society for several years. Bruce traveled all over the world for work and on wonderful vacations with Lynn. He was a loving husband, dog lover, excellent cook, profuse reader of mysteries, woodworker, volunteer, and philanthropist.
